World Water Day 2019 has been designated as March 22, 2019. International World Water Day is held annually as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. The theme for World Water Day 2019 is ‘Leaving no one behind.’ Billions of people are still living without safe water — their household, schools, workplaces, farms and factories struggling to survive and thrive.

The key messages of World Water Day 2019 include:
‘Leaving no one behind’ – Marginalized groups — women, children refugees, indigenous peoples, disabled people and many others — are often overlooked, and sometimes face discrimination, as they try to access and manage the safe water they need. ‘Safe water’ is shorthand for a ‘safely managed drinking water service’.

Poster Contest
Students should create a color poster illustrating how 'safe water' is accessible on the premises, available when needed, and free from contamination:

Grades K-2  By 'Safe water' for personal and domestic drinking use

Grades 3-5  By 'Safe water' for food preparation use

Grades 6-8  By 'Safe water' for industry or workplace use

Each poster should be on paper or poster board size 8.5” by 11”. Students may use crayon, pencil, watercolor, paint, or markers. Only original artwork will be accepted. Computer-generated drawings will not be considered.

Each entry must have the student’s full name, address, phone number, grade, school name, and shirt size listed on the back of the drawing or essay. Only one entry per student will be accepted.

Deadline to enter is Friday, May 3, 2019

FEDCO, ATTN: World Water Day Contest, 800 Ternes Drive, Monroe, MI 48162.
